A booklet packs structured information into a convenient format: services, a programme, instructions or a price list. The key decision is the fold: it sets the number of panels, the order of opening and the logic of the text.

Folding options
- No fold — a plain leaflet or information sheet
- Single fold (half fold) — four panels
- Letter fold and roll fold — six panels
- Z-fold and accordion — equal-width panels
- Accordion with four or more panels
- Gate fold and double gate fold
- Cross fold and parallel double fold
What to allow for in artwork
- Panels folding inwards are slightly narrower — allow for it in layout
- Safe margins near fold lines so text is not broken
- Panel order on the flat sheet differs from reading order
- Paper grain direction affects how cleanly the sheet folds
